SRW #2 - The Georgian

Good morning guys. As I promise, I will write about the second restaurant which is The Georgian. Located in the Fairmont hotel in downtown. FYI, if you're dining here, just valet your car and don't bother about finding parking spot because the good news is, it can be validated :p

I have to say they have a really nice place. Pretty formal, and I was expected to dress up but thank God i didn't do it too much. I guess it's just because of the era that has changed, jeans just fine here :P In additional it might just because of SRW event :)

Talking about the food. I have to say that this was the most royal place, they gave us "3 course" extra beside the other 3 menu that we ordered. Excuses for the pictures because there were couples that kinda blurry :D Mind me cause I only used my lovely onyx and the restaurant kinda darky. Hehe (should I change my phone or bring camera along with me?) FYI, I only took pictures of what I ate so I would only review on those too.

Crackers and butters

This was the first thing we got and there were 4 different types of butter that they served with the thin crackers. Left to Right: regular fattening butter :p, basil, s s something (i don't remember exactly what it called but my friend told me it's an expensive spicy spice), and balsamic vinegar. Love the basil the most :) Almost forgotten we actually got another 2 types of bread on side.

Smoked salmon + caviar on top

I'm not a big fans of smoked salmon cause it "smoked" or more like soaked the freshness from the sweetness into saltiness. Loving the caviar tho, it melts :9

Ahi Tuna Tar Tar
With Black Sesame Wafer, Frozen Wasabi Mouse

My appetizer :) Likey likey likey, it blends well from the freshness of the fish and the frozen wasabi mouse. The wasabi also wasn't too strong so it was match perfectly

Seared Scallop
with Melted Young Leeks and House Made Bacon Butter

Royal royal royal, all i can say about the Georgian :) big scallop, seared well and surprisingly fulfilling. Hehe, mind my dragon inside my tummy *wink2*

Frozen Raspberry Ginger Cassata

left to right, the raspberry sorbet, they have raspberry sauces in it and when you cut the sorbet, it will flow out. slurp (a little to sweet). well, i'm not a sauces person, maybe thats why. btw on top of it, they have some kind of crumble which is lovely and under that there's like i don't know white thingy. i'm not sure what's under but it blends well. in the middle we got the mini souffle, just so so :p so by ordering this one, i got a chance to try the souffle - the cream :p which other ordered. and the most right. i don't know, basically it's all sugar and more like decoration. The funny story behind this, one of my friend sipped it and the color thingy stain on his lips (blue color!). He looked scary yet funny tho

Last but not least, we got this last dessert. 3 cubes of chewy fruity thingy and dark chocolate. Fruity chewy cubes were chewy and sweaty (duh?) Dark chocolate? my best friend!

Loving this place, good foods, good ambiance, pretty romantic :)

Seattle Restaurant Week - Matt's in the Market

Yellow, it might be a little bit outdated but I guess it's good to write where it belongs too :D FYI, I forgot my food blog password so I wrote all the review in my regular blog. SO here I am, ready! :)

Brief info, for those who doesn't know yet what is Seattle Restaurant Week. It's an event during Spring or sometimes in October (or Fall supposed I say) where you can get 3 courses lunch for $15 OR 3 courses dinner for $25. In additional, over a hundred restaurant around Seattle is participating this event. All I can say this is just the right time to spend your money in those fancy ($$$$ on yelp) restaurants.

Our 1st restaurant that we went to was Matt's in the market. It wasn't really impressive, the food was a little bit too salty for my taste bud. A little story about the restaurant, my hostma's son is a friend of Matt. Matt has a couple restaurant in Seattle but a couple years a go or not so long ago, Matt sold Matt's in the market so the restaurant is not longer Matt's. Well, it's just a name anyway. I will put some pictures, but this time I will be using my friend's picture cause my phone was died at that time :S Don't expect me to write plenty of words cause I forgot the taste. All I can say, Matt's in the market is just too salty for me but they have pretty romantic place in pike place market area :)

Fresh Oyster

Nothing special, little tiny size, pretty fresh tho :)

Roasted Beets baby arugula, cana de oveja cheese, toasted hazelnut, pedro jimenez vinaigrette

I have to say i like the beets, it's not too sweet but yet crunchy. Perfect blend with the mate cheese and the hazelnut, hmm. roasted well crunchy and smells good :)

Willy green cotija cheese, pepitas, arbequina olives, roasted garlic vinaigrette

Oops, this wasn't my order so I will just shut my mouth :x

Halibut and clams, heirloom tomatoes, castelvetrano olives, citrus-shell stock, herbs

Fish a little bit salty or maybe thats the way how people cook, put more salt so it's crunchy outside? The broth pretty blend tho :p

Grilled flank steak roasted Olsen Farms potatoes, mushroom ragout, sage demi glace

My friend said this was the only thing that's good. :p

Pork shoulder posole, poblano chiles, radish and cilantro

Apple crumble with chantilly creme

Like it :) warm apple crumble with crunchy (healthy-amen) granola ;D

Vanilla ice cream

This was the vanilla ice cream and my other friend got the pear sorbet. The ice cream was just another ice cream (for me) but the pear sorbet was different :) Light, refreshing and not overwhelmed flavor. Just perfect and I've never found any pear sorbet elsewhere so will see the next review ;)

Next, I will be posting the 2nd restaurant, which is GEORGIA. So see yaaaa ^^

Tilth

Have you guys ever watched Iron Chef on Food Network? (what an intro -_-") If you guys have watched, you might or might not watch the series when Tilth Chief vs Morimoto (if I'm not mistaken) and surprisingly Tilth won. -_-"

I've only been to Tilth 2 times for brunch and never thought of going back again (this is why i was so surprised when Tilth won). I just can't find anything extraordinary on my plate. The only thing that I like is the design of the restaurant, because it's clean and bright. That's it. LOL.

Talking about the menu, I guess they keep changing and this is what we ordered a couple months ago (my 1st visit)

Hazelnut Scone

The scone just so so, but likey the hazelnut cream or butter :)

Salmon Hash

Salmon kinda fishy, I guess cause it's smoked

Duck Mini Burger

Kinda the highlight. Taste okay a little salty, likey the chips :)

Croque Madame

I don't remember anything about this -_-"

Omelet with spinach and mushroom

Super ordinary.
French Toast

Love the plating, the sizing, the texture. I have to say this is the best.

Overall, I only can give Tilth B because of the ordinary taste, but they DO have cute plating and nice place. A little bit salty for my taste bud and if compare to the size it's lil bit pricey. Well it might just because of ORGANIC but let you guys decide :)

Triple X Root Beer

Just last weekend, me and my 4 other friends went to XXX Burger or also known with XXX Root Beer. Located in Issaquah, with a huge orange name XXX ROOT BEER board name it's pretty easy to be found. The store is really unique with the old car theme. Car plates were everywhere and actually I found there was a car plate year 58 in the women toilet. Oh, look what I found on their window! "WARNING! Nothing that you eat or drink here is good for you".

Yes, NOTHING is healthy here!

This was our first order.
I don't know what does it call cause we just point to the menu "we want this one". FYI they charged you 2$ for sharing and look what we got :( Well we actually told them to cut it into 5 but we weren't expecting that they would put in the separate plate as well. so, this was FAIL.

XXX Burger TradeMark

Since 1 small piece burger for us seem didn't enough, we ordered another fried chicken (we ordered it because we saw the servant carrying it and thought it would be so nice). Once again, I'm sorry because I don't know exactly what they could but this was really greasy. Remember what you saw on the mirror :p Well, I guess if we don't consume this kind of "healthy" thing too often, it will be just fine :P

Classic Fried Chix

Second burger! yay, finally we actually could see the actual size. It's huge and I love the curly fries underneath :p I don't know the name of the burger, but inside there are patties and burgers and some veggies (tomatoes and onions and lettuces). I might say that I like this one better cause I barely got anything on the first burger :p

Meatlovers
Look at the inside!

And these were the drinks

Vanilla Milkshake + Root Beer Float

The Root Beer Float was AMAZING! It's just different from other Root Beer :D Haha, off course the servant told us that their Root Beer is special ordered from Coca Cola with triple x recipe. They made a contract that Coca cola can only distribute the root beer to triple x burger and unfortunately the only triple x store left is the one in Issaquah.

Time for me to review! :) Food was just so-so, nothing special beside the size, not a big fans of milkshake but i have to say that it's really rich! Root beer float? 10/10. The white thing that swirling is actually ice cream, the ice cream is really creamy and rich ! Oh no, what a sinful day XD Might come back again but only for the root beer float :)

T-Station

Happy Veteran's day guys :)

I'm currently in T-station right now, having my Ayam Goreng Balado and jasmine green tea without sugar + coffee jelly as my toping (as u can see below). I just don't like eating alone without doing anything, so here I am. I guess it's just a good decision to be here since they have FREE WI-FI *wink2*

Brief story about T-station.
I'm not sure when they open but I'm sure that it's not too long ago. A year or so? One thing for sure, they have made so much improvement since then. They add more new flavors on the list and my faves are the Milo and Thai Ice Tea :D wait wait, just realized that they just add some more new flavor. Their new flavors : Green Bean, Mung Bean, Wintermelon, Orange and Honey Lemon. I've never tried the Fruit Smoothies but just FYI, they also have Orange Berry as their New Flavor. Well, at least that's all what I just read on their menu :p

Food? Majority, they sell Indonesian Food so if you're tired of Indocafe or Julia's kitchen, this might be an option to try :P Have some good spicy Indo food + sweet refreshing drink :) What a good life :P

Ambiance? I like it here since it's bright or it can be just my personal preference to have bright and clean place to hang around. They also have plenty of board games, it's just a nice bright and clean with high sealing place. Other then board games, they also have two big screen TVs, one for you to watch movie and one for you for play PS3 or Wii. The only think that I like the least is the chair, they have a "build in" chair which i think pretty hard on your butt. Hehe, I just wish if they could cover it with just thin cushion it will be better. Almost forgotten! Friendly service is here with hearted smile. :P

Little review about my Ayam Goreng Balado, it's spicier than Indocafe which is good but the chicken is little bit too brown comparing to Indocafe. I gave 7.5/10 for the taste but 6.5 for the look. The rice texture more like Lontong, hehehe. but it's okay I like it. :)

Well, time for me to start working on my school work :) ciao!

Umisake

On Friday, I finally went to Umisake with my friend. It's been a while since I want to try there, but unfortunately they always full. Last time when I came without making any reservation they asked me to wait for about an hour (ridiculous). It seems everyone loves that place and reservation is required. We were lucky on Friday, because we arrived there around 4ish and they actually open at 4. Still with their busyness, the servant was asked me whether i will be done by 6 because our table was reserved. In my opinion, we got pretty uncomfortable table set, it's short and it's more like in living room rather than dining room. It's just weird and I don't know why they don't put us in another table because there's not much people yet at that time.

Talking about the foods, these were couple things that we ordered.

Bad Boys Role

It's a dipped fried role, I'm not so sure about what role it is but it seems they cook with old oil so it taste yucky. It used to be my friend's favorite but when we tried it this time the only thing that i could see on his face was disappointment. LOL

Spicy Tomato Tofu

Nothing special I can say, but I like the lady finger and actually it taste like Indonesian food :p I was pretty regret as well cause I change agedashi tofu into this one

Beef Tataki (Fillet Mignon)

Just so-so, I like Wan better but unfortunately Wan doesn't have the beef tataki anymore :(

Grilled Garlic Short Ribs

Nothing special.

Green Tea Tempura Ice Cream

Should try wasabi bistro, it taste better and the green tea taste to icy. I can't really taste the green tea.

BTW, it seems like I've been writing all negative about the food but I was so pissed of because of the taste. However I will give a second chance, going back and try the real menu not the Happy Hour menu. I hope it will better, and maybe thing have change, I heard they just change their chief sooooo, we will see.

Le Panier

Last Friday when I just done with my work, Seattle was on their good mood. Sun was out, so I went to Le Panier and had their Chocolatine and my friend got the Pain Au Chocolat (chocolate croissant). I didn't have a change to take pic of the Pain Au Chocolat because he just grabbed and ate it right away.

The Chocolatine
(Chocolate with Almond Cream)

The reason why I choose the Chocolatine is just because I haven't tried it before. Hehe. Chocolatine has exactly same shape with the Pain Au Chocolat, the only different is Chocolatine filled with almond cream + almond on top + sugar powder on top while Pain Au Chocolat is just a regular chocolate croissant. I guess you never go wrong with simplicity cause I like the Pain Au Chocolat better than the Chocolatine. In my opinion, it's way to oily (what do you expect if there's cream inside?), and I can't really taste the almond.

If you live further away from Pike Place Market and craving for chocolate croissant, my suggestion is just try to find the nearest Panera Bread nearby your location and try their Chocolate Croissant instead. I just like their better, eventho it's smaller but you can taste the chocolate better.

Short overview about Panera Bread:
I think it's just a good location for students to study or have a meeting. It's a quiet nice place and they actual provide you with free wi-fi :)
