Poquitos

Another review on Mexican Food and I hope you guys don't feed bored. Located in Capitol Hill just next to Quins, this place gets my attention. They have unique design that I feel pretty inviting, so I went to Poquitos and when I came they only have their happy hour menu. I think it was around 3 or 4 that's why it was really slow, barely have customer (working hour). Services are okay, little bit slow, I'm not crazy about their food at all (sorry). One thing I told my friend, this place has an interior design that will make you feel crowded even there's only 2 people inside the restaurant.

Guacamole

Fresh made, it's pretty good but I don't know if you think $4.5 is worth for that amount of guacamole. Btw, it's a free flow chips, I just put the guacamole on top so I don't need to take too much pictures :p

Salsa (Chipotle-garlic-onion & Serrano-cilantro-lime)

It's different from what I expect >_< I thought it's chunk of tomato things but my knowledge might be not broad enough about Mexican Food :S

Brisket
Painted Hills shredded steak, onion, cilantro, salsa roja

Al Pastor
Marinated Carlton Farms pork, pineapple, onion, cilantro, cooked in the traditional method.

I couldn't write much about this place but I don't really like the food. Nothing special and I don't feel it worth the money. I'm sorry, but once again this is based on my taste bud. Maybe they have good drinks tho :p

Musashi

MUSASHI! SASHIMI! SUSHI! OISHI! :D Hahaha, I have to claim this place as one of my favorite Japanese Restaurant. Especially their Chirasi Bowl, worth every penny. I do not suggest big group to come because the restaurant is relative small, so save this place for next time. Group 2 - 4 will be perfect, I think.

I also think that they are under new management, because the servant used to be Japanese but now is Korean. I found out this restaurant a little bit inconsistent lately, quality still good but the way they cut their fish is relatively different. It might not a big deal but for me it actually "change" the flavor or the yummy-ness :P

My loves:

Harusame Salad (If I'm not mistaken)

Cold, creamy but light, refreshing, good for starter :D

Chirasi Bowl

Regularly it comes out with Ebi but we always change the Ebi with Unagi because the Unagi is just lovely and warm. If you don't eat rice that much, just tell them to decreased the rice. I never able to finish their rice because it's just so much. I suggest you not to come too early because sometimes the fish is too cold.

Chirasi Sashimi

Sometimes if I feel like eating sashimi, I will just ask for their chirasi without rice. Personally I like the chirasi bowl, because the rice itself it's a really good complement for the sashimi. The rice is warm and has perfect tangy flavor. Everything is fresh and warm unagi. Don't forget to ask for their spicy sauce, it's not spicy (for me). Their spicy sauce seems like mixture between mayo, fish roe and sirachai? I don't know exactly but loving it :)

The other stuff that I've tried:
Beef Sukiyaki: it confused me because I thought it's sukiyaki, sukiyaki but it actually beef yakiniku. Not a big fans, only tried once and Central Market beef bowl is FTW.
Skewer: they have assorted skewer like, zuchini, chicken, beef, green onion, mushroom, etc. I have to say it's pretty good, nice twist if you don't feel like having sashimi.
Onigiri: they have couple type but I like the one with salmon inside :) It's nice and I like it with my skewer.
Miso Soup: just ordinary

Definitely coming back and going to miss this place so bad when I go back for good.

Teriyaki Time

Every students have their own stories. Teriyaki place actually reminds me of my community college. I used to go to North Seattle Community College (NSCC) and it seems the most convenient place after their cafetaria is Teriyaki Plus. However, I won't be talking about TP because I haven't their food for a while.

I went to Teriyaki Time at Greenwood area and my friend told me that when he went to Shoreline Community College (SCC). Students from there will often have their lunch at Teriyaki Time. So, since I don't know what to eat, I give a shot for this place.

Overall, I have to say this place is pretty clean, menu is easy because they have pictures and the lady at the cashier is friendly. Portion is also very generous :)

Beef Yakiniku with Chix Katsu - substitute rice with salad

Generous, generous, generous. Salad is good, beef teriyaki taste pretty good too. Not too sweet or salty and medium thick cut, so you can actually taste the beef. Chicken Katsu also good, the coating has flavor and good thing they don't cut it too thin.

Ramen/Udon

I forgot what is this but from the size of noodle this one supposed to call as Ramen. Unfortunately it's pretty blend, on the good side, they put lots of veggies. Might skip this one for another thing.

While I was there, I saw there was grandma having their yakisoba, mannn. Looking good and they served on hot plate, generous portion. Might be the right place for the hungry man. :D

The Other Coast Cafe

Sorry to say but for subway and quiznoss, I have to wave good bye this time. Not a sandwich type eater but I need to go back to The Other Coast Cafe this time. The Other Coast Cafe (TOCC) have two store that located one in Ballard area and one in Capitol Hill, next to Rosebud restaurant if you guys have been there and 2 doors away from Ayuthaya (Thailand Restaurant). The place itself it's clean and okay, I got nothing to complain about it.

Food are freshly made for you so be patient, it doesn't take too long cause i think it worth the wait :P So for my second time, I still get their ultimate sandwich, Rajun Cajun

Rajun Cajun

The perfect combination of Cajun-style turkey, Pepper Jack cheese, tomato, and onion with spicy salsa mayo. It's not spicy but the bread is so crispy, crispy not tough. Melting cheese and juicy. I feel the one the Ballard is slightly saltier than the one in Cap Hill. You might find this sandwich is a bit pricey since for the Rajun Cajun it's $9 for the 6". I never tried their other sandwich but I don't think I will intentionally order something else because I'm satisfied with this one :P

Good news about this place (especially from Cap Hill). They do delivery around the area with a minimum charge $15. Try their sandwich and just walk by to Yogurtland for dessert :P Sounds like a good plan?

Rancho Bravo

Heylow! It's been a while since I update my poor blog :S apologize apologize! Now I have a time, let me share my comida Mexicana fever! Chipotle, sounds familiar? Well, I won't make about them eventho I can eat Chipotle 2-3 times a week. Might not be the most authentic but I love the freshness and the convenience :)

So yesterday, HAPPY PRIDE DAY! I went to Broadway area to have sandwich (I will write next) and TACO! It was really pretty and I always like Broadway area. Restaurants all over and all are walking distance. Anyway, focusing on the restaurant, Rancho Bravo. It's located really close with Molly Moon and just next to Cal Anderson Park. I think it used to be KFC but they change into this lovely Mexican Restaurant.

When you get in to the restaurant, you will see simply fast food typical design (I think they don't change the interior design - which is totally fine). It was packed and takes a while to get your food. They will have Mexican soda on the bucket full of ice and couple type of chili that you can take by yourself.

Since I was kinda full, I only tried their Crispy Taco with Beef Tongue

Mannnn, it's crispy, it's fresh and the beef tongue is really tender and juicy. Mixed with the fresh squish lime juice with a hint of their chili, I'm coming back! Definitely going back to try more items. What I found a little bit confusing is their menu, sooo many things. Its hard to decide but i bet it will taste good.

Enjoy your taco on their outside seat with a bottle of soda, what a good life :D

Wing Central on the Ave

I went to Wing Central on the Ave on my last final on Spring Quarter. Spread my wings and celebrate my freedom, hohohoho. I never knew that they have this place because it's just located just infront of another chicken wing store, BBQ Chicken and I never realized so I guess this place is pretty new.

I personally not a big fans of chicken wing or when I eat it I won't eat the skin. Call me weird, it's okay. I never tried hooters, yes I never. I've only tried Wingdome and BBQ Chicken so there's not much comparison that I can write.

The place wise, I think this will be the PERFECT place to watch games because they have TV all over, big screen or small one special for people who sit on the wall. This place is a bit loud, considering all the TV, the down side of this place is the service. OMG, it takes us FOREVER just to make an order. Sorry to say, but I feel neglected and for the sake of this reason, I might not going back here.

Talking about the food, I have the Garlic Waffle Fries, two flavors wings (i forgot what flavors) and their Hell Wings, claimed as "World Hottest Wing"

Garlic Waffle Fries

Lovely! It's crispy and oily. I think they use fresh garlic so I really can taste it and lovin' it.

Wings

I don't want to say anything because I'm not a big fans of wings and no comparison so I will give 7 out of 10 for the wings and 10/10 for the fresh celery and compliment sauces.

Hell Wing - claimed as The World Hottest Wing

Hell yeah, it's freaking spicy! -_-" Different spicy than Asian spicy because this spiciness bit my tongue, I have to finish this wing really really slow and mix with other wing and waffle :P

Hana Restaurant

Good morning! Today I would like to make a review of one of my favorite Japanese Restaurant, Hana. Located in Broadway and really close with Rite Aid. Hana is a small nice Japanese Restaurant with all posters on the wall. While you were waiting for the food, it will be fun just to look around because sometimes the posters will be useful.

So, this actually what I just found out through the posters. FareStart organization will have Guest Cheft on the Waterfront on July 13. For further information, just simply click the picture below :)

Back to the restaurant. I've been here so many times and I still love their Katsu Curry Don. If you don't eat rice that much, I suggest you to tell the waiters to reduce the rice. I barely eat half of the rice because they give the rice so generously. They might cut the katsu too thin lately but still my favorite. The curry sauces is not over power, not type of super curry and salty but just good balance between the curry, chicken and rice.

Katsu Curry Don

I noticed, when I posted this Lunchbox special, some of my friends asked about this. Hana has their daily lunchbox, they served until 3 pm and they change their menu everyday. You will still get all the salad, roll and the inari. Almost forgotten, this lunchbox also comes with miso soup.

Lunchbox Special - Chicken Teriyaki

When we came, they have Chicken Teriyaki for the lunch special. You will get this huge + super fulfilling lunchbox for only $8.95 (I think). The Chicken Teriyaki itself tastes good as well, sweet and tender. The imitation crab salad, tamago, and their tofu is my fave as well. I think their tofu is soaked with some kind of sauces so it doesn't taste like regular tofu (but still it's tofu :P)

I don't suggest you to have their sushi, not because it's not fresh. It's just because you can get better sushi somewhere else. Their tempura udon also taste kinda blend, for me. You may try their Sukiyaki, it's not the best but I like it just for the sake of the convenient. The Salmon and katsudon also tasty. I might over rate this place just because this place is part of my memory but still, i would like you guys to try and see what you think :) Treat yourself after finals! Good luck :)

Chantanee Thai Restaurant

It's funny how different people have totally different taste bud. I personally not a sweet person, as in, I don't like eating savory food that have sweet after taste beside sweet and sour. I have to say that Chantanee might not be my favorite place to eat, but once again I just would like to remind readers that not everybody has same taste bud with me. My friends love this place and they don't like places that I like. Thehehehe...

Anyway, atmosphere wise this is a nice place for hang out and chill. Food taste kinda complex and sweet for me. If you are hot-a-hollic, five stars might taste nothing for you. At least I can't taste any spiciness for myself.

Crispy Garlic Chix

Pad See Ew

I believe they cook it with a very high heat fire which make this taste good :p

Heavenly Beef

It's kinda weird because i feel like this food more into Korean style. When I ate it, it actually feel fresh kinda floral-ly.

Tilapia - forgot the exact name

Liking the Chili :)

Duck Curry

Lyche! You will definitely find lychee in this curry, not too coconut milk-y. Expect chunk of ducks :)

I personally might not going back, just because it's kinda sweet for me and it's in Bellevue. But once again, I will let readers judge because I might be wrong :) Oooopps. Almost forgotten, they have vegetarian menu so do not worry for asking your vegetarian friend here. They might have vegetarian menu, right? :D

Marination Station

I have to say that I'm so outdated. I just knew that marination open their station, whereas i think they've opened the station for about a month ago. Anyway, let me introduce you with Marination. I actually not quite sure if i should name this restaurant as marination mobile because its a food truck and marination station because they have permanent place.

So, I've been to marination mobile and yes, they move everyday. If you are interested you can simply come to their station at Capitol Hill just above QFC and Chase Bank. Marination mobile itself are voted as America's Best Food truck. They served Korean Hawaiian food. Imagine spicy pork or kalbi on taco OR kimchi quesadilla. Sounds more like Mexican food for me but anyway. Interested? If you do, come by to Marination Station or simply find their truck.

Errr, I tried to take picture of their menu but it seems to small. So, pardon me :p Well, let me know if you want the bigger size or just simply go to their website :)

the menu

I like they way they have their menu. It's very simple and very direct with pictures next to it :) I've tried the taco long time ago and the sliders and YES it is very tasty.

I won't describe their food truck so let me try to describe their station. It's a small station but very clean and very bright. If you open their website and see there is a girl name Kamala, you might meet her in the station as well. They have high table surrounding and some table outside while you enjoy sunshine outside. It's just a very casual place with hearty foods.

Kimchi Fried Rice with Egg (duh?)

Talking about their Kimchi Fried Rice, it taste pretty good, if you need more protein, you can simply ask them to add meats or tofu. This time when i had the Kimchi Fried Rice, it was a lil bit hard but I think because they open earlier than they should open. Haha, it describes how people so impatient to have their food, right? :p

Definitely going back :) and for those who interested to try, please try their taco. I'm not a big fans of taco but their tacos are lovely!
